Location: Western Canada-based remote work with frequent travel between Victoria, Vancouver, Edmonton, Regina and Winnipeg
Are you a government relations and public affairs professional with a proven track record of success in a regulated sector of the economy? Reporting to the President, we are hiring a new member for our senior leadership team to lead our advocacy efforts across Western Canada on behalf of one of Canada’s most admired business sectors….Canadian beer and Canada’s brewers.
Responsibilities
- Advocate for policy decisions that support a strong domestic brewing operational and regulatory environment for Canadian brewers.
- Build strong interpersonal relationships with key elected and non-elected provincial officials with influence on beverage alcohol policy, regulation or legislation across British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba.
- Co-ordinate and synthesize policy positions with active input from individual Member companies.
- Develop and build solid working relationships with affiliated business, consumer and non-governmental organizations to advance the sector’s long-term interests.
- Represent the brewing industry on key Boards and organizations that oversee various elements of beer retailing, distribution and /or container management.
- Identify opportunities and threats to the beer sector emanating from the provincial or municipal levels of government.
- Ensure personal compliance with municipal, provincial and/or federal lobbying legal obligations and codes of conduct.
Qualifications
- You are a seasoned government relations professional with a track record of success.
- You have worked in or for a regulated sector of the economy.
- You have experience in federal or provincial government.
- You have a well-developed network amongst provincial government officials.
- You are adept at translating complex policy issues into easy to understand politically palatable solutions.
- You have superior writing, communication and presentation skills.
- You are self-motivated with a strong work ethical that works well within a professional team environment.
